A life-long resident of Connecticut, Arthur G. Potts, Jr., one of the founding partners of Blair & Potts, received a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from Williams College in 1971, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1974, and began his law practice with a large Stamford law firm, of which he became a partner in 1982. In 1993, the firm of Blair & Potts was formed by Art Potts and Nancy Blair.
Art is admitted to practice law in Connecticut and Florida. His practice focuses on providing legal services to individuals in the areas of estate planning, trust and estate administration, and taxation of individuals, trusts and estates, with particular emphasis on minimizing exposure to gift and estate taxes while maximizing administrative flexibility. Art is a member of the Connecticut, Florida and American Bar Associations. Art is listed in Best Lawyers in America and Connecticut Super Lawyers. Art is past President of the New Canaan Land Conservation Trust, Inc., a position which he held for over 15 years. He has also served as the secretary of the New Canaan Inn, is a past Chairman of the Waveny Care Network Board, is a past President of the New Canaan Community Foundation and past President of the Country Club of New Canaan.
Art and his wife, Bunny, have been residents of New Canaan since 1974. They now divide their year between homes in Connecticut and Colorado. Their two adult children live in California and Colorado.
