A life-long resident of Connecticut, Arthur G. Potts, Jr., one of the founding partners of Blair & Potts, received a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from Williams College in 1971, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1974, and began his law practice with a large Stamford law firm, of which he became a partner in 1982. In 1993, the firm of Blair & Potts was formed by Art Potts and Nancy Blair.

Art is admitted to practice law in Connecticut and Florida. His practice focuses on providing legal services to individuals in the areas of estate planning, trust and estate administration, and taxation of individuals, trusts and estates, with particular emphasis on minimizing exposure to gift and estate taxes while maximizing administrative flexibility. Art is a past co-chairman of the Probate Section of the Stamford-Norwalk Regional Bar Association and is a member of the Connecticut, Florida and American Bar Associations. He has also served on the Charitable Giving and Exempt Organizations Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association Estate and Probate Section. Art currently serves as President of the New Canaan Land Conservation Trust, Inc., a position which he has held for over 15 years. He has also served as the secretary of the New Canaan Inn, is a past Chairman of the Waveny Care Network Board, is a past President of the New Canaan Community Foundation, past President of the Country Club of New Canaan, a past member of the Board of Directors of the Stamford Symphony, and has most recently held a position on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Fund for the Environment.

Art and his wife, Bunny, have been residents of New Canaan since 1974. Their two adult children live in Massachusetts and Colorado. Bunny is the Principal of East School in New Canaan. Art's interests include flyfishing, photography and running.
